The Thing, The Thing, RoboCop, RoboCop

I've somehow managed to play "The Thing" videogame from 2002 and watched the movie (1982) recently. Just last night I watched RoboCop (1987) and am now about to play the Nacon game that came out last year.

Two things are sticking in my head. First: The two movies are the ideal for a lot of cheap TV now (not much comes close, however). Second: The timeline for these "IPs" is ridiculous so I sketched it out.

Both of these movies are part of my entertainment life. I was the right age when RoboCop came out. It was everywhere. Comic book stores, magazines, news. The Thing was a VHS watch sometime in the late 80s.

There is a reason for their longevity. The atmosphere in both is absolutely incredible. One scene in particular stands out (below). Turn the sound down or ad different music and it could be a shot from a Michael Mann film.
